“Let Go and Let God”

Narrative By: Shekha Arrington

Daniel and I met at a time when I had finally “Let Go and Let God.” I was so tired of being sad about not having my soulmate and it started to consume me. About a year before I met Daniel, someone I follow on IG posted a note she had written to herself that said “good guys DO exist, he’s out there. Stop focusing on when he’s coming and work on yourself. Get yourself ready and he will come.” It was so simple, yet so profound to me. I immediately looked up the GRE, started researching graduate school programs, started trying to find a new job and became more confident in God’s plan for my life. I studied for the GRE, took it, applied to Harvard for graduate school, got accepted and BOOM! a few weeks later Daniel and I were introduced. My longtime friend Nia Barge made the connection, and I couldn’t be more grateful to her for listening and heeding to what God was telling her to do for me (and for Daniel!)

Our relationship has had its’ fair share of trials. It’s not perfect by any means, but we have learned to stop sweating the small stuff (even though it feels huge at the time). Our love is not perfect, but it’s perfect for each other. We are never going to walk away from each other because God told us to do this. We have a lifetime to work out any issues we have, so no problem will ever be too big to solve together, with God’s help. Even when we don’t care about pleasing each other, we always want to please God and do things His way. It’s important to remember that, we do it for Him and a perk of pleasing God is that you get your happiness along the way.

I’m so grateful to have Daniel. He is my rock, always supporting me and reminding me that “we’re in this together.” I just pray that he feels as loved as I do in this relationship. Daniel WILL move heaven and earth to give me what I’m asking for. He has a heart to serve and that’s all I can ask—you continue to try, I’ll continue to try and we’ll live #BradleyEverAfter forever! November 6, 2015 will not be the end of our story, #BradleyEverAfter is just the beginning of our modern day fairytale together!

*Shekha and Daniel are real Jayne Heir Weddings clients who will wed on November 6, 2015 in Hanover, MD
